Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's initial efforts at popular stardom failed with two distinct record labels signing the singer and then pulling her out before any material was released. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. Ur So Gay's title track was a jolly and playful song that attracted modest interest from the media. The song I Didn't Kiss a Girl was a more bold ode to sexism that was accompanied by an electro-pop beat that was hard to resist. It was not a popular song and critics were critical of it for promoting relationships with a partner and also argued that the song depicted a sexually explicit story in which men fantasized about female sexuality. I Kissed a Girl became an international number-one single thanks to its blend of sexual enticement and a refined song melody. It was also instrumental in driving sales for her album from 2008 The one of the Boys. Hot N Cold, Perry's energetic and vibrant album featuring the song that was its second biggest hit became a huge hit. The album that Perry made herself than 3 million copies.
